Cookies & Preferences

This page explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on katesessentials.com, why we use them, how long they last, and how to control them. For the legal framework and your broader rights, see our Privacy Policy.

1 · What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. “Similar technologies” include local storage, session storage, tracking pixels, and fingerprinting techniques. Together they let sites remember your visit, measure performance, and — if permitted — support advertising. First-party cookies are set by us; third-party cookies are set by services we embed.

2 · Cookie categories we use

2.1 Strictly necessary

These are required for the site to function. They cannot be turned off. No consent is required under GDPR because they are essential to a service you’ve explicitly requested.

2.2 Preferences

Optional. Remembers UI choices so the site feels consistent across visits. Opt-in required in the EU/UK.

2.3 Analytics

Optional. Helps us understand how visitors find and use the site in aggregate. Not used to identify you individually. Opt-in required in the EU/UK.

NamePurposeProviderLifetime
_gaDistinguishes unique visitorsGoogle Analytics 4 (G-QNZ83HTDSG)13 months
_ga_QNZ83HTDSGGA4 session state & campaign attributionGoogle Analytics 413 months

GA4 is installed with Google Consent Mode v2. Measurement is fully blocked (denied defaults, anonymized IP) until you opt in to Analytics above. When you opt in, aggregate visit data is sent to GA4 property G-QNZ83HTDSG.

2.4 Marketing

Optional. Allows advertising platforms to measure campaign performance and (where permitted) build audiences. Opt-in required in the EU/UK. Auto-rejected if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal.

NamePurposeProviderLifetime
_fbpMeta ad measurement (if Meta Pixel is enabled)Meta (Facebook/Instagram)3 months
_gcl_auGoogle Ads conversion measurement (if installed)Google Ads3 months
_ttpTikTok ad pixel (if installed)TikTok13 months

Marketing pixels run only after you opt in above and are not currently installed on this site. For client engagements that include paid-ads management, marketing pixels run on the client’s site under the client’s own consent setup — not here.

3 · Consent Mode & signals

We implement Google Consent Mode v2 with conservative defaults. Before you make a choice, all non-essential storage categories (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, analytics_storage, functionality_storage, personalization_storage) are set to denied. When you grant consent, we call gtag(‘consent’, ‘update’, …) to lift the relevant categories.

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser transmits GPC, we treat it as a valid opt-out of “sale” or “sharing” under CCPA/CPRA and automatically keep marketing cookies off, even if you click “Accept all.” You can toggle GPC in browsers like Firefox, Brave, and DuckDuckGo.

We do not currently respond to the legacy DNT (“Do Not Track”) header because there is no industry consensus on its meaning.

4 · How to control cookies

On this site: use the banner that appears on your first visit, the “Change preferences” button at the top of this page, or the “Cookie Preferences” link in the footer of every page.

In your browser: most browsers let you block or delete cookies site-by-site or globally. Instructions:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

Opt-outs for advertising networks (when we or our clients run ads):

  • NAI consumer opt-out
  • DAA WebChoices opt-out
  • EDAA Your Online Choices (EU)
  • Meta ad preferences
  • Google Ad Settings

Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will break form submission and other site functionality.

5 · Consent retention

Your consent choice is saved in localStorage on your device for up to 12 months. After that period, or if the categories on this page change materially, the banner will appear again. You can clear your choice at any time using the “Reset & show banner again” button above.

6 · Third-party embeds

This site currently embeds no third-party video, social, or analytics widgets by default. If we embed third-party content in the future (e.g., a Vimeo case-study reel), we will only load it after you grant the appropriate consent category. Those third parties may set their own cookies governed by their policies.

7 · Changes to this page

We may update this page as our practices evolve or as cookie laws change. Material changes invalidate prior consent and will trigger the banner to reappear.
